I really enjoyed the beginning, where we got to meet the remaining heroes and finally get a full picture of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly trio (if you didn't get the reference, it's time to catch up on your movie classics). The storytelling was engaging, with humorous interjections about what Makoto was up to at the time. The ending was also great — starting from the first mutation, it was a whirlwind of battles and Makoto implementing his plans, sometimes having to improvise. However, unlike others, I didn't enjoy the middle section much. The part where our hero becomes a professor felt drawn-out and slow-paced. I won't lie — I was bored. I understand it was essential to develop Makoto's character, show him in a different light, and set the stage for the grand finale, but it felt like I was coasting through it. I didn't care about the Kuzunoha Company's local branch or the weather in demiplanes, and I couldn't connect with Makoto's new students. Surprisingly, the part I enjoyed most was Shiki's performance and work (and I know Mio and Tomoe would kill me for saying that). Another mixed aspect for me was the humor. Sometimes it was funny, but other times it felt a bit too silly for my taste. So, how does all this affect my rating? I pondered for a long time. There are standout moments that definitely deserve 4 stars, but they’re interspersed with a fair amount of filler and hit-or-miss humor. I got a lot of world-building, but only enjoyed parts of it (like the detailed world and faction introductions). Overall, it's not quite a 4-star series for me yet, but it's getting close. Hopefully, the next season will get there... 6.4/10. ()
