anglais I have a bit of a soft spot for Turkish films. There’s something about the blend of exoticism and their attempt to channel a Western style that I find appealing. Objectively, My Father’s Violin is a fairly typical, sentimental drama with a child-centered storyline that’s good for about three stars. But I was personally drawn to the way Istanbul was woven into the film, and the musical interludes featuring the violin were a lovely touch. It’s a charming, if not entirely groundbreaking, movie. ()
