Trouve ta voix

This film obviously knows how to exploit emotions from naive souls, but it undermines itself. Whether it's the desperately unappealing main character, whom I could only sympathize with due to her personal tragedy, or the disgusting way of singing, with every "hmm-mm-mm" tearing at your ears, or the fact that the teachers at a school that pretends to be the best music school in the country approvingly nod their heads to stupid R'n'B beats. But even though I felt absolutely terrible during the final back-slapping, where everyone starts singing along, I will give it two stars thanks to the occasional bursts of emotion or a solid soundtrack full of teenage rock. I like Hilary Duff. I was one of the few who even wanted to be her… Raise Your Voice was one of my favorites. When I watch the movie now, it's not the same, but I still like the music. It naively charges you up and makes you dream. (09/02/2011)
