Joey

It's definitely funny, but whereas in Friends there were six protagonists for a half-hour episode, each with a different style of comedy, all pulling their own weight, here Joey alone doesn't have a chance to pull it off. And the quality of the episodes is inconsistent. (06/02/2005)

Season 1 – 90% – My huge fear disappeared after the second episode. Equally successful, funny, and incredibly well-timed as part of a purely comedic series (especially when it's always focusing on Joey in the first layer). I can't help it, but Tribbiani's new escapades already feel like an integral part of Friends. P.S.: Anyone who's not crazy about Andrea Anders doesn't get this show... I didn't even wish this on Rachel Green. Season 2 – 70% – The unremarkable newcomer Zach, the unnecessarily overshadowed genius Howard, and the slightly exaggerated fool Jimmy. Joey can have as many partners as he wants, but as long as it's not Chandler, it will all still rest on his shoulders alone. But what hurts the most – the natural feel is gone. Pleasant exaggeration has turned into stiffness, the actors are starting to overact, and it's no longer easy for me to root for the characters because the plot twists are merely superficial. Even though these characters don't deserve to end in disappointment, that's how fate wanted it. Friends remains at the forefront, and Joey, as a sufficiently pleasant epilogue, at least wasn't too much of a disappointment. (21/05/2006)
