It is not easy to get used to, and after a season of history, satire, and sometimes almost school-like exposition, there is a special here that is the strangest thing, that it is not special at all. Seriously, there is traditionally a lot of family trouble and relationship strengthening in the main group, and the rest is episodic, unexceptional, but fortunately also entertaining and adventurous New Year's spectacle with snow, action, and familiar enemies. After the eras of Davies and Moffat, it may not even be possible to rise so high, and Chris Chibnall knew well why he was so reluctant to take on the position of main creator. But he definitely has potential, and not only thanks to Jodie Whittaker, his period has an increasingly clear face.
