David Lynch filmed so much material for Inland Empire that he was able to assemble a bonus film from scenes that didn't make it into the final three-hour version. True, it's a film that is "only" 76 minutes long, but it still suggests there was a massive amount of material to work with. I couldn't connect with the film, and it was just additional suffering for me. ()
