Outrage

Perhaps a little longer than it should have been; there are so many characters in this. And it’s no joke trying to orient yourself in the names. In the end, as always, the only one who remains in your memory is the excellent Takeshi. And I must admit that the "deaths" and warnings really were very original and inventive. (06/09/2011)

Japan's showing off! A perfect Yakuza gangster film full of incredible violence, uncompromising, cold and bleak (the drill scene will stay in my memory for a long time!). I found the running time just right, I wasn't bored, I was drawn into the plot, unexpected satisfaction. 75% (15/09/2014)

The pace of the story could be considered fast only by a disabled snail, but I was kind of intrigued by the whole thing and it never occurred to me to get bored. In fact, I couldn't even afford to lose focus, because I could miss the name of an important family, and I was already having a hard time putting names to faces. The worst thing for me was that the Japanese were constantly moving, and when they swapped places a few times, I felt like a fool who was naïve enough to think he could win at the shell game. It's a really great film set in the world of the Japanese Yakuza, offering a glimpse into their practices and inner workings. I have to admit that it takes a while to get acquainted with all the characters' names and their affiliations with different families (which is probably the film's only significant downside). Everything else works exceptionally well. Although I'm not deeply versed in Japanese cinema, I am familiar with the name Takeshi Kitano. This man not only directed the film but also wrote the script and played the lead role of the tough Yakuza boss Otomo, who doesn't mess around. The film isn't exactly action-packed (only the ending deviates from this trend), but it certainly doesn’t hold back on brutality (the scenes with the drill and the rope). As a viewer, you need to stay alert throughout, as there's constant betrayal and the plot twists 180 degrees. The film's advantage is that everything feels credible, not just contrived.
