Austenland

Austenland is a decent romantic comedy by Shannon Hale responding to the Jane Austen phenomenon. Of course, its fetishization here does not reach the same proportions as in its homeland, but we can laugh all the more at the false obeisance to the Regency era. It's also certainly interesting to see how Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Seymour's comedic acting works alongside each other. (05/07/2021)

Jane Seymour is still incredibly stunning, even as she enters her seventh decade among us. She’s an incredible woman and she alone made this film worth watching for me. An American woman who wants to fulfill her dream of entering the world of Jane Austen, albeit just through costumes and period settings. Essentially, it's like a Disney Park for nostalgic romantics who dream of their own Mr. Darcy. In the end, it's a fairly decent comedy that turns into romantic nonsense towards the end. (22/01/2014)
