Austenland is a decent romantic comedy by Shannon Hale responding to the Jane Austen phenomenon. Of course, its fetishization here does not reach the same proportions as in its homeland, but we can laugh all the more at the false obeisance to the Regency era. It's also certainly interesting to see how Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Seymour's comedic acting works alongside each other. ()
Jane Seymour is still an incredible babe, even at the age of seventy. She is an amazing woman, and it was worth watching this film just for her. An American who wants to fulfill her dream of being in Jane Austen's world, albeit only through costumes and period furnishings. Essentially, it's a Disney Park for eternal spinsters who dream of their Mr. Darcy. In the end, it's a decent comedy that turns into a romantic nonsense. ()
