anglais Where are the days when watching Alien truly scared you, and you felt for the main characters? No matter how hard Ridley Scott tried with the newest addition, Covenant can’t even come close to the 1979 original, whether in terms of atmosphere or acting performances. The visuals are once again breathtaking, but everything felt a bit too artificial and not very realistic—it was easy to spot the green screen. Even the iconic chestburster scene, which we see again here, didn’t have the same impact. In the original Alien, you were on the edge of your seat, but they failed to recreate that atmosphere this time around. A huge, and I mean really huge, minus goes to the acting performances, except for Fassbender’s dual role, who stole the movie. The characters' behavior is hardly believable, and at times downright stupid (you go to take a shower, even though you know deadly creatures are running around?). You don’t build any emotional connection to any of the characters, and you wish for their quick end due to their "logical" actions. Still, I was entertained—the second half didn’t lose its pace, and the ending was grandly surprising. It's worse than Prometheus. I give it 73%. ()

anglais Ridley Scott simply made a film that does what it was meant to do. It connects Prometheus to the Alien franchise. He does it in a way that's not very obvious, but it's also not particularly thought-provoking. The fan gets what they expect, plus they can follow some continuities. It's action-packed, it's fast-paced, and it's visually stunning. But unfortunately, at times, it's a bit empty. ()
