Jesse et Arturo sont des ados. Par la bouche d'aération de l'appartement, ils entendent des bruits étranges venant de chez la voisine du dessous, une vieille dame. Ils décident de placer une caméra dans la conduite et découvre, horrifiés, le visage de deux spectres. Bientôt, la vielle dame meure. Avec leur amie Ali, ils visitent l'appartement de la victime et découvre qu'elle y pratiquait la magie noire. Pire, elle avait des photos de l'un d'entre eux. If you've seen any installment of the series, it doesn't matter which one, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones won't upset you that much. It's a pleasant addition that doesn't compromise on quality, and I must say I enjoyed it similarly to the third installment. The fourth film just recycled the entire series, but this spin-off with different characters managed to be quite engaging. Thanks to it, I think the series still has something to offer.

If anything, this sequel isn’t boring, unlike the previous one. The protagonists are two teenagers having some silly fun until the demon enters the scene and takes over the fun. It shows up often and quite intensively, so this time there’s no endless wait for Godot. Unfortunately though, it’s not scary at all, and the permanent use of the camera, even in the tensest situations, is so unconvincing that it hurts, and Landon could have worked a bit harder on the script, too. But I still enjoy the mythology and I’m curious about what will happen next.
