anglais In Nice, a mysterious sniper terrorizes the city, and Inspector Carella must find a connection between the victims to satisfy the police prefect. During numerous interrogations of witnesses, it appears he might rather be satisfying someone else. Ennio Morricone had an easy job with his few simple motifs because the content couldn’t match his level. I’m not sure if it was the editing, which took inspiration from the detective’s anarchist tendencies in youth, a weaker script, or Jean-Louis Trintignant himself, who from the side resembled Emmanuel Macron and from the front a sour backside. Spoiler: Daddy...? Daddy! ()

anglais A good French crime flick with a murderer whom you don’t get to see until the very last moments. It’s a pity that it’s so incredibly impartial and completely bereft of any emotions. For instance, Trintignant is a very interesting actor character, but once he’s walking on set, investigating without any movement of his mimic muscles, it’s not really that great. Especially so in a French crime movie, as those are usually literally based on emotions. ()
