Soir d'élection (2017) (S07E01)

anglais The first episode was better than many in the previous season, but that's not saying much, just the harsh truth. Despite searching, the only horror moment was Twisty's brief appearance. I've endured six seasons of Sarah Paulson, and I'm not sure I can handle a seventh. She was incredibly annoying in this episode. ()

Terreur nocturnes (2017) (S07E02)

anglais Slightly better than the first episode, but it's still far from great. The worst part for me is Sarah Paulson in the lead role as a shrieking, phobic character — she really gets on my nerves. I'd also appreciate it if the plot would actually progress; so far, it's just been treading water. ()

Psychose (2017) (S07E03)

anglais Well, what do you know? I wished for some story development in my last review, and I got it. This episode was actually entertaining, unlike the previous ones that mostly bored and annoyed me. I have a feeling Kai Anderson is going to turn into a new Charles Manson. I just hope the creators keep up the pace, make the plot engaging, and amp up the atmosphere. ()

9 Novembre (2017) (S07E04)

anglais What a surprise. After the disappointing first episode, I never expected to give the seventh season five stars. But here we are. This episode delved into the events leading up to election night, clarifying several previously unclear points. The story was engaging throughout, the atmosphere was excellent, and I didn't even mind that it wasn't a horror. ()

Trypophobie (2017) (S07E05)

anglais I can hardly believe it myself, but after the tragic sixth season, AHS is finally entertaining again. I was expecting mediocrity at best. While it isn't exactly scary, this episode had a solid atmosphere, some good tension, and a bit of violent action. Overall, I'm satisfied. ()

L’Assassin est parmi nous (2017) (S07E06)

anglais To my utter joy, the creators continued the trend they started in the fourth episode. They wisely limited Ally's over-the-top phobic outbursts and focused more on the story. As a result, I found myself genuinely enjoying the show again. ()

Andy Warhol contre le SCUM (2017) (S07E07)

anglais Even though I finally learned the real story behind the Zodiac, I can't shake the feeling that this episode was a bit weaker than the previous three. The backstory of the new character could have been portrayed differently without taking up the entire episode. However, the final meeting in the restaurant was definitely stylish. ()

Winter reste de glace (2017) (S07E08)

anglais This episode didn’t hit the mark for me. The creators tried too hard, with twist after twist, but the story suffered for it. Essentially, it felt like an overdone commentary on how terrible life is for women because of men, capped off with a clichéd insemination ritual. This theme is getting old, especially when presented so naively. ()

Poison (2017) (S07E09)

anglais This episode left a much better impression on me than the last one, even with Ally taking center stage. I believe a drastic reduction of internet access would have had an even greater impact on everyone. ()

Charles (Manson) s'en charge (2017) (S07E10)

anglais I didn't mind Kai Anderson acting like Charles Manson throughout the series, but I don't get why a significant portion of this episode had to rehash Manson's most infamous act. It felt like filler to keep viewers entertained before the season finale. Honestly, a simpler solution would be to just make it a ten-episode season. ()

Grandeur retrouvée (2017) (S07E11)

anglais The season finale left me a bit disappointed. Sure, it had its moments but it was bogged down by several illogical situations. For example, Kai’s escape from prison was utterly ridiculous. However, considering the train wreck of the sixth season, it could have been worse. ()

Apocalypse (2018) (S08)

anglais The eighth season didn't impress me much from the start, because the creators' approach to the nuclear disaster and the ensuing radiation strongly reminded me of the unabashed amateurism of The 100 creative team. Things seemed to be improving later on, but it didn't last long. What fascinated me most about Apocalypse is that it didn't feature any elements of horror. I would be okay with calling it a mystery. There was no sign of a horror atmosphere, though. What I enjoyed were the callbacks to previous seasons, but I wasn’t amused by the final showdown. ()

La Fin du monde (2018) (S08E01)

anglais I reluctantly gave this season's premiere a single star simply because I wanted to give it a fair chance. But boy, did it disappoint. I can't decide if the creators were being naive or just plain dense, but the storyline and logic were all over the place. From the absurdity of nuclear explosions and radiation, blatantly borrowed from The 100, to the head-scratching mystery of who took off in that airplane. That was definitely a WTF moment. ()

Le Jour d'après (2018) (S08E02)

anglais I was prepared for the lack of logic, hoping it wouldn't detract too much from my enjoyment. Unfortunately, what became abundantly clear by the second episode was that I wasn't having fun at all — it was just plain boring. ()

Le Fruit défendu (2018) (S08E03)

anglais Three episodes in, and my conviction remains firm: the eighth season is shaping up to be bland and uninspired. The only saving grace was an unexpected nod to the third season, which provided a brief moment of amusement in an otherwise disappointing episode. ()

Serait-ce... Satan ? (2018) (S08E04)

anglais What a turnaround from the shaky start of the season! I never imagined I'd be awarding three stars, but here we are. The creators seem to have found their footing again, steering away from nuclear fission and returning to the essence of what made the series great. With nods to past successes and some added flair, they've managed to reignite my interest. ()

Le Jeune Prodige (2018) (S08E05)

anglais Much like the previous episode, I found this one quite satisfying. It was a relief that the creators spared their characters from lethal doses of radiation and instead delved into the good old times, which worked surprisingly well. Although the introduction to the Seven Wonders was a bit lacking, and there were moments where I would like the horror aspect to return into this American Story.. ()

Retour dans la maison de l'horreur (2018) (S08E06)

anglais Wow! This time, the creators made me bump up my rating, and surprisingly, they didn't rely on horror to do it. Instead, they tapped into nostalgia and delivered an episode filled with explanations that I found thoroughly enjoyable. Plus, there were some well-executed comedic moments thrown in. ()

Trahison (2018) (S08E07)

anglais The seventh episode felt somewhat aimless to me, and to add to the frustration, there were those subtle yet not-so-subtle jabs at the white majority again. It's really starting to get under my skin. ()

La Maison du diable (2018) (S08E08)

anglais Another episode that could've been left on the cutting room floor without much loss to the main storyline. Watching the Antichrist grapple with his inner demons left me yawning, and I couldn't shake the feeling that the scriptwriter was the one in crisis. What's more, I'm getting tired of the same old American clichés — satanists only seem to exist in hoods and bloody rituals. Where do the creators even draw their inspiration from? Probably from other American horror movies. ()
