A beautiful young woman named Little Cabbage is sold by her family to a wealthy scholar named Yang in order to become his future concubine. However, Yang's overbearing wife becomes jealous of Little Cabbage and arranges to have her married off to a well-endowed peasant. When Little Cabbage's new husband is found dead, poisoned by a powerful aphrodisiac, Little Cabbage and Yang are brought in front of a bloodthirsty court to face charges of conspiring to commit murder. Maintaining their innocence, Little Cabbage and Yang are forced to endure unspeakable torture at the hands of a corrupt judge in an attempt to make them confess. Érotisme délicat, sexe sauvage, violence physique, beaucoup d'humour, le tout enveloppé dans un manteau comique et fantastique. Chaque personnage a son propre caractère et joue un rôle clair dans toute l'histoire. Et l'histoire concerne l'effort de prouver l'innocence avant que le jugement ne soit rendu. Selon les normes chinoises, il s'agit d'une histoire d'amour interdite tout à fait normale et grand public, qui regarde les relations sexuelles avec humour, jouissant des punitions physiques dépravées et de la poésie pittoresque de l'amour romantique. C'est un divertissement très exotique par rapport à nos normes, une obligation pour tous les fans de la culture chinoise. Vous avez vu Tigre et Dragon. Mais vous ne savez certainement pas que l'on peut aussi avoir des relations sexuelles sauvages en volant entre les branches des arbres.

A Chinese Torture Chamber Story appears to be a historical film, but that's just a facade because, in reality, it's a multi-genre pop culture work that once again proves it's possible to combine all possible elements and still extract something meaningful, hold it together, and make it entertaining. A comedy is a comedy when the audience laughs, and in this case, I found myself amused at times.
