anglais I simply don't find Barbra Streisand to be such a great actress; she often annoys me in most movies. This is also the case in Hello, Dolly!, where there are other elements that managed to captivate me, including great choreography, and great direction by Gene Kelly. However, the storyline wasn't as compelling to me. ()

anglais I've recently seen three classic musicals that were dominated by Barbra Streisand: Funny Girl, Funny Lady and Hello, Dolly! I liked Funny Girl the best, but it was a close second to Hello, Dolly!, which I'm trying to review here. The whole film is again dominated by Barbra, both in acting and singing. She's wonderfully complemented by Walter Matthau, who just needs to stretch that face of his and it's immediately clear what he's thinking. The choreography of the dances, complete with singing and music, is polished to a tee and is a joy to watch, as are the ladies' gorgeous costumes. My only criticism would probably be the running time, twenty minutes less wouldn't have hurt. In short, another great musical led by the wonderful Streisand. ()
