Volume 2 (2021) (S02)

anglais Fortunately, there hasn’t been a significant drop in quality compared to the first season. It’s a bit disappointing that the number of episodes was cut to 8, especially considering the two-year break between the second season, which I personally don’t understand, but oh well. The standout episode, which I could easily see as a full-length film, is Pop Squad. Besides the stunning and sometimes breathtaking animation, this addition to the LDR universe offers a compelling plot that provokes deep reflection. A few other episodes also shone brightly (episode 4 with perfectly shot bloody action in a harsh desert environment... and the philosophical episode 8, which surprised me with its depth). Oh, and All Through the House was a surprise; I didn’t expect such an outcome. I’m writing this review at the moment the trailer for the third season has been released, and it looks pretty crazy! So we’ll see! For me, it’s 7.5/10. ()

Volume 3 (2022) (S03)

anglais Compared to the previous series, this one is somewhat more consistent. Sure, there are still episodes that didn’t capture my imagination as vividly as I’d hoped, but a few episodes really managed to fully engage me. Without a doubt, the best episode is the second one, titled BAD TRAVELLING. It clearly showcased Fincher’s perfectionism, from the flawless performances (yes, it’s animation, but to direct it this convincingly? Hats off) to the incredibly intricate story with well-crafted twists (and a rather brutal edge). A few other additions to the LDR universe were surprising, with MASON'S RATS being the most entertaining episode the series needed. I was quite disappointed with the last episode, JIBARO—though the animation is breathtaking, the plot didn’t hold up, resulting in a rather weak installment. I’m definitely in favor of another season (with Fincher’s involvement again). For me, it deserves a solid, above-average 8/10. ()
