Pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale dans le sud des Etats-Unis. Cindy Lou vient rendre visite à son fiancée Joe, caporal affecté à la base militaire de Jacksonville. Au réfectoire, la volcanique Carmen Jones, employée au pliage des parachutes, provoque Joe, puis se bat avec une autre ouvrière. Joe est alors chargé de conduire Carmen Jones à la prison située loin de la base. Elle le séduit en route mais la jeep s'embourbe et le couple fait halte au village natal de Carmen... A musical that mainly wins you over with melodies that are simply familiar and beautiful. Carmen Jones, as the name suggests, draws inspiration from the opera "Carmen," but it also features other well-known melodies. The actress in the lead role is beautiful, but I found her singing to be the true highlight of the film. Otherwise, it's still a story about how difficult it is to choose the right person and how satisfying it can be to tell that to the other one.
