"I am going to tell you the story of little knight Trenk, who was so brave and wise that he became famous from the mountains to the sea," announces the unnamed narrator at the beginning of this timeless tale set in the Middle Ages. Trenk is a ten-year-old intrepid serf who wants to free himself and his family from their evil and unknightly lord Wertolt. To do so, he sets off into the world to seek his fortune and to become a knight despite his humble background. A series of fortunate events will lead Trenk to be trained as a knight and to get to know Thekla, the clever and courageous young daughter of a respected and generous lord. The two become an unbeatable and "very knightly" team with the potential of fulfilling Trenk's wish. They will have however to confront not only Wertolt himself but also an apparently very dangerous mother dragon... Based on the best-selling book series by German author Kirsten Boie and directed by the experienced Anthony Power, this beautiful animated feature about courage, determination, and friendship will undoubtedly capture the hearts of the audience and remind everyone that, in different ways and guises, Trenk's and Thekla's potential is embedded in each of us.
