anglais The fanboys are probably happy, but it left me cold. I didn’t enjoy the plot at all, the monsters are too ordinary, but I understand the difficulty of the artwork. Fortunately, it’s R-rated and the fatalities had something going for them, but once they stopped cutting, I kind of yawned. I'd prefer 3D Animation, with monsters from the games and I'd definitely welcome humour. 6/10. ()

anglais I don't like clumsy anime animation, so I had to get used to it for a while, but the interesting story and a decent atmosphere helped me with that. Even the over-done action scenes, which have nothing to do with physics, are not for me, and they can splatter blood as much as they want, from whom or from what they want and where they want. However, the sympathetic Vesemir and the fact that the sorcerers are not completely good guys was as pleasant as watching the magic plans, and as one quite surprising "who is who" finding. ()

anglais Grandpa Vesemir is good with me. I went with a share of skepticism into this episode that otherwise touches on subject matter so dear to me, and came away unexpectedly satisfied. I can't help but think the film did a solid job of incorporating all the familiar typical elements of Sapkowski's work: cynicism, sarcasm, racial politics, a streak of machismo and arrogance, cool detachment/feel, and a subliminally hidden (in)sensibility. Vesemir's demeanor as a braggadocious, aimlessly wandering mercenary for the dirtiest of unglamorous jobs fit right into my personal little box of the profession of the renegade spellcaster, and his gradual epiphany made sense to me. I also liked the winking cameos or plot inserts from other stories; the connectivity was surprisingly present. And since the action and animation didn't disappoint, the only big shame is the absence of the excellent OST from the 3rd computer game. I'll toss a coin to this witcher! ()

anglais An animated Witcher prequel from Netflix? After hearing this and having watched two seasons of The Witcher, I didn't approach the movie with high expectations. Netflix has been known to take liberties with the story (looking at you, Filavandrel), but surprisingly, the animated version turned out better for me than the live-action series. However, I still have my fair share of criticisms, particularly with regard to the storyline. / Lesson learned: If you see a crowd of villagers armed with pitchforks and torches, something's probably amiss. 3*- ()

anglais A film from the Witcher universe that’s quite difficult for me to rate. There are definitely more positives than I expected. As a fan of the series (games, books, and Cavill's show), I was quite interested in the origin story of Vesemir. I wasn’t too fond of the portrayal at first, where he’s depicted as a young, rather flashy brat, but you gradually get used to this version of him. I liked the inclusion of plenty of monsters from the game (wraiths, leshens, basilisks, etc.), which pleased my "Witcher" heart, though at times it felt like the story was missing some of that Slavic mythology. Perhaps that's due to the Korean director; unfortunately, nothing can be done about that. It’s definitely a high-quality animated project, with plenty of brutality and well-executed battles. The ending with a nod to the games is a nice touch :) I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars, but it’s leaning more towards a solid three for me. 7/10 ()
