Jaroslav Soukup's popular bit of entertainment inspired by the crazy American comedy Police Academy and all the successful sequels which followed. It's nonsense, but what can you do? We Czechs used to be quite good at parodies, and this has a hint of what used to be. Some of the catchphrases became popular, and that for me is an indication that this film definitely has merit. Surprisingly, after nearly twenty years, it's not as uproariously funny as before, but Ladislav Potměšil as Major Maisner is simply the prototype of a foolish cop, and he plays him excellently.
