Calpernia is a trans singer performing in Nashville in a bar that is popular among soldiers from the nearby base. When Barry Winchell, a soldier new at the barracks, sees her on stage for the first time, he cannot stop thinking about her. A relationship gradually develops between the two while they both struggle with their own prejudices and worries, as well as with outside hostility. This award-winning television drama was nominated for the Emmys and Golden Globes, and tells the story of love and hatred in their purest forms. (Mezipatra Queer Film Festival)
